As amazing as this time of year can be, it can also be challenging. We find ourselves trying to balance a thousand things at once while facing just about any temptation that could possibly be thrown our way.
A big temptation this time of year is our beloved alcohol. With the holiday’s coming up, we will be spending more time with our friends and family in social situations. Food and alcohol is a part of our culture, it’s a common bond we can share in order to connect with each other just a little bit better.
So how do we manage alcohol over the holidays? Here are two easy tricks that you can implement today and goes hand in hand with our blog from last week:
  1. Schedule when you will be spending time with friends and family over the holidays. Having a better handle on your social commitments can make sure that you aren’t overindulging for non-special occasions.
  2. Put a simple water to drink goal into your holiday plan. Something as easy as “For every drink that I have, I will follow it with 16 ounces of water.” This is a great goal for two reasons. The first is that the fact that you aren’t removing anything from your holiday experience, just adding in. The second is the fact that it’s putting more time between your drinks. Creating space between your drinks will allow you to consciously decide if that third drink is a good idea or not.
